Bridge Maintenance Funding

In reply to the Hon. A. KOUTSANTONIS (West Torrens) (24 November 2020).

The Hon. C.L. WINGARD (Gibson—Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing): I have been advised:

The state government receives $1.7 million annually from the commonwealth government for bridge maintenance.

The funding is part of the 2020-21 Australian government contribution for road network maintenance under the National Partnership Agreement on Land Transport Infrastructure.

The state government has also been successful in securing other commonwealth funding for bridge upgrades and projects, including a $160 million contribution from the Australian government for the Joy Baluch AM Bridge duplication project and a $9.6 million contribution to deliver a higher capacity north-south freight route between Murray Bridge and Annadale, which will include bridge upgrades along the route.
